ChatGPT Plus vs Claude Pro vs Google AI Ultra: Monthly Price Comparison (2026)

What each plan costs per month in the US, what you get at $20, $100, $200 and $500, and which subscription is the best value for your use.

ChatGPT Plus vs Claude Pro vs Google AI Ultra: Monthly Price Comparison (2026)

The three big AI subscriptions have settled into a similar ladder: a roughly $20 starter plan, then $100 and $200 tiers for heavy users. OpenAI has also added a $500 option. Here is what each costs per month in the US as of early October 2026, and which is worth paying for.

The Short Answer

  • Light to moderate use: ChatGPT Plus ($20), Claude Pro ($20) and Google AI Pro ($19.99) cost almost the same, so choose by features and the apps you already use.
  • Heavy daily use: The $100 tier is the sweet spot at all three companies.
  • Cheapest premium tier with extras: Google AI Ultra at $99.99 bundles 20 TB of storage and YouTube Premium.
  • Most expensive: ChatGPT Pro 500, at $500 per month.

Taxes may be added depending on your state. ChatGPT Pro tiers are billed monthly only, with no annual discount.

The $20 Tier: Plus vs Pro vs AI Pro

All three cost about the same and can write, summarize, analyze files and help with code.

Who should pick which?

  • ChatGPT Plus: best for an all-purpose assistant with the widest set of add-ons and agents.
  • Claude Pro: a favorite for long documents, writing and coding.
  • Google AI Pro: the value choice if you already use Gmail, Drive and Docs, since the 5 TB storage can replace a separate Google One bill.

The $100 Tier

This is where heavy users land.

Google’s move at I/O in May 2026 was the notable one. It launched the $99.99 Ultra tier and cut its previous $249.99 plan to $199.99, which means Google now matches the other two at each price point while adding more bundled perks.

A caution for ChatGPT: at DevDay, OpenAI cut the token allowance of the $200 plan roughly in half for new subscribers. Existing subscribers keep the earlier allowance until October 29. Check current limits before you commit.

The $500 Option

OpenAI’s Pro 500 is the highest consumer tier among the three. It offers the largest allowance (reported at 25 times Plus) and Ultrafast access, which runs GPT-6 Astra at up to 300 tokens per second. It targets developers and researchers who run agents all day. Neither Anthropic nor Google has a plan at this price.

What a Year Costs

$100 tiersabout $100about $1,200

ChatGPT Pro 500$500$6,000

Subscribing to all three $20 plans would cost roughly $60 per month, or about $720 a year. Some people do this and cancel the ones they use least.

Business Seats

For small teams, ChatGPT Business and Claude Team have matching prices: $25 per seat monthly ($20 annual) for standard seats and $125 monthly ($100 annual) for premium seats. Seat caps and extra usage rules vary, so check them if you have a larger team.

Tips to Save Money

  1. Start with the free plans. All three have them, and many people don’t need more.
  2. Pay annually where available. Claude Pro drops to $17 per month with annual billing.
  3. Subscribe for one month at a time during heavy projects, then downgrade.
  4. Check the bundled value. Google’s storage and YouTube Premium can replace separate subscriptions.
  5. Watch for plan changes. Prices and limits shifted several times this year, so reread the plan page before you pay.

At $20, the three plans are nearly interchangeable on price, so pick the one that fits your daily tools. At $100, Google AI Ultra offers the most bundled extras, while ChatGPT and Claude offer the strongest assistants for coding and agent work. Only go to $200 or $500 if you regularly run into limits. For most Americans, one $20 plan is plenty.
